Our Scripture reading today is 2 Kings 2:9-10.

Verse 9, "And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me."

The prophet Elijah's time on earth and ministry were about to come to a close.  Elisha had
seen all much of what God had accomplished through Elijah.  He wanted to even to do more
for God then Elijah.
As I consider what is taking place here, it makes me wonder about the
influence I have had over those whom God placed in my care.  Do my children want to follow
God's will and live for Him?  If you have children, do they see a godly example in you that
you would want them to follow?   Whether it is children, a spouse, co-worker, or friends, do
they see something in you worthy of following?  The power of influence is great and ought
not to be abused.  Let God use your influence for His glory!
