Our Scripture reading today is Proverbs 14:12, "There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."
We have an enemy who is an expert at deception.  Satan can make something appear to be just fine, and promise peace and happiness if we would follow his way.  Satan's path never ends in joy and peace, but it ends in complete destruction.
This points us back to the great need we have from God's Word. God's Word will lead us in the right way.  God's Word will show us the pitfalls that Satan covers up.  Psalm 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Even as Christians, our judgment might be clouded occasionally by the things of this old world.  God's Word helps us to see more clearly.  The verse is repeated in Proverbs 16:25, "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death."
"To really know we are on the way of life (instead of the way of death), we need to fear the Lord and receive His wisdom, especially as revealed in His word."
