Our Scripture reading today is Ecclesiastes 9:10, "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy
might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
There are various jobs or projects that come our way each and every day. Some of them
are planned and others show up unannounced. The challenge from God's Word this
morning is to do our very best regardless of the task at hand. Part of life is meant to
labour and toil. Work is not a curse. Work is a good thing and it should be done with
all of our might. Do our best now for the glory of God because there will be no work in
the grave.
I really like this quote by Mr. Spurgeon, "Man was not created to be idle, he was not elected to be idle,
he was not redeemed to be idle, he was not quickened to be idle, and he is not sanctified by God’s
grace to be idle." Work for the time is coming when man works no more. Give God your best every day!
