Our Scripture reading today is Galatians 4:18, "But it is good to be zealously affected always in a good thing, and not only when I am present with you."
There is a challenge given here to the Galatian Christians to be zealous in good things. The
same challenge is true for us in 2025. The word, zealous, means marked by fervent partisanship for a person, a cause, or an ideal. We are prone to be more zealous for the temporal than we are for the eternal. Many are zealous over a hobby or a sport. There are others who are zealous over friendships. These areas of being zealous are not wrong in and of themselves. Unfortunately, they can tend to take the place of our being zealously affected in living for the will of God. How many times do we do something or make a decision without even considering the will of God?
It is time that we turn our fervency to the will of God. It is time that we turn our zealousness to serving God. The average Christian has no area of service for God. This is caused by their being zealous but in the wrong direction. Turn your zealousness towards the eternal!
