Our Scripture reading today is Luke 7:1-3.
Verse 3, "And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant."
After His sermon, Jesus enters into the city of Capernaum.  He is met by some Jewish elders that were sent by a centurion.  "This centurion appears as a devout, kind, humble man — yet, all the same he was a centurion — not only a Gentile, but a Roman soldier, and an instrument of Israel’s oppression."  He was not your typical centurion.  This was displayed in the fact that he was greatly concerned about one of his slave-servants.  Under Roman law, he could have the servant killed if he was no longer able to work.  The woman with an issue of blood has a similar story.  "When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment."  Mark 5:27
Had the centurion not heard of Jesus Christ and His life changing power, his servant would have never been healed.  Our calling as followers of Jesus Christ is to make Him known to everyone.  This could be people we know or people we meet.  Do you have a plan to make Him known to someone today?  The most important kind of healing people need today is spiritual.  They need to know there is a way to be set free from the bondage that sin brings.  John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."  They need to hear that God loves them.  Revelation 1:5, "And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,"
Have a good day.
