Our Scripture reading today is Joshua 3:3, "And they commanded the people, saying, When ye see the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, and the priests the Levites bearing it, then ye shall remove from your place, and go after it."
The ark of the covenant was a visible representation of God to the children of Israel. They did not have multiple copies of the God's Word to read and then obey what it said to do. What they did have was the ark of the covenant and it was to be followed by faith wherever it led the people.
We should be ready and willing to every day follow God's leading. It is such a blessing to have the Scriptures and the Spirit of God. Together, these two work in harmony to bring about the perfect will of God in our lives. Psalm 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." God's Spirit will use His Word to direct us where He wants us. It is up to us to surrender by faith to His will.
