Our Scripture reading today is Romans 5:15-19.
Verse 15, "But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and gift of grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many."
The offence of one is referring back to verse 12 which speaks of Adam in the Garden of Eden.  All mankind has reaped the results of Adam's sin.  The results include a sin nature, the guilt that comes with sin, and the eternal judgment of God.  Hebrews 9:27, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment."  There are many who have died in their sins and will spend eternity being judged in hell.  This is a sobering and convicting thought.
The verse transitions with the words, "much more."  These are words of hope to the sinner.  These are words that point to the amazing grace of our God.  The grace of God is a gift that we cannot earn.  It is made available to sinners like you and me because of the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.  His death, burial and resurrection can save to the uttermost.  The grace of God is still abounding today!  It is still saving souls.  It is still sufficient for our daily needs as we seek to grow in it.  Today, is a day of rejoicing in the grace of our loving Heavenly Father.
