Today's Scripture reading is John 19:17-19.
Verse 18, "Where they crucified him..."
Our eternal life was completely dependent on the sacrifice of the Saviour.  He died that we might live.  Romans 6:23 clearly states, "The wages of sin is death..."  It is true that the sins of all mankind nailed the Lord Jesus to the cross.  While we can and should personalize our salvation, we must always personalize our role in His death.  Romans 3:10, "As it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one." The soldiers were the ones who physically nailed our Saviour to the cross, but we, too, were involved.
Nailed To the Cross by Carrie Ellis Breck

1 There was One who was willing to die in my stead,
That a soul so unworthy might live,
And the path to the cross He was willing to tread,
All the sins of my life to forgive.

Refrain:
They are nailed to the cross,
They are nailed to the cross,
O how much He was willing to bear!
With what anguish and loss,
Jesus went to the cross!
But He carried my sins with Him there.

Take time to thank the Lord Jesus for the cross!
