Our Scripture reading today is Revelation 2:5-7.
Verse 5, "Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent."
In sports, you will hear a coach talk about learning and re-learning the fundamentals of the game.  He is challenging his team to not overlook the basics.  Unfortunately. the church at Ephesus neglected the spiritual basics.  They needed to remember, repent and return.
We need to pause and remember the goodness and grace of our Almighty God.  He has provided us with every good and perfect gift.  In addition, we need to remember when we our heart was burning to serve and live for Him.  I am referring to when you were overjoyed to read God's Word every day and attend all the services at church. There could be much more said about used to Christians.
We need to repent of our cold heartedness.  We need to repent of our spiritual apathy. We need to repent of our worldliness.  Repent, repent, REPENT!
Lastly, we need to return to our first love.  Our first love is not doing.  Our first love is to be Jesus Christ.  When my love for him is right, everything else will be right.  Today is the day to get back to the first works.  Mark 12:30, "And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment."  My love for Him will move me to return to Bible reading, prayer, witnessing and gathering together with other believers.
