Our Scripture reading today is John 15:12-17.
Verse 15, "Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you."
A most encouraging verse to start off any day. The Lord Jesus calls us His friend. The songwriter put it this way, "There's not a friend like the lowly Jesus. No, not one. No, not one." We will never have a better friend than the Lord Jesus.
According to this verse of Scripture, Jesus shows us His friendship by communication. Jesus Christ has made known to us what He has heard from the Father. Once again, I am encouraged and challenged by this verse. It is encouraging that Jesus Christ calls me His friend. It is also challenging with regards to communicating what God has taught me. We show our friendship by following in Christ's footsteps. We should be teaching others what God has taught us. Jesus teaches us that this is what a true friend will do.
