Our Scripture reading today is 1 Timothy 4:12-13.
Verse 12, "Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity."
A challenge given to Timothy a long time ago is still applicable to us today.  The Apostle Paul was exhorting Timothy to be a godly witness and testimony.  In one way or another, we all have influence and are examples.  In ancient times to be called a youth one was no older than 40.  Timothy was more than likely in his 30's and Paul in his 70's at the time of this writing.  The admonition is truly for all ages.
What we say and do are contributing factors to our example.  Colossians 4:6, "Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man."  In addition, how we love and our attitude need to be Spirit led.   It is very easy to allow our circumstances to bring about a bad attitude.  We must keep our eyes on the Lord and the promise of His faithfulness.  1 Corinthians 10:13, "...but God is faithful..."  The example of our Heavenly Father is to be our example!
