Our Scripture reading today is Mark 14:6-8.

Verse 8, "She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying."

The statement that Jesus Christ makes about this poor woman has always stood out and challenged me - "She hath done what she could."  She was willing to give to the Lord what she had.  I know for me many times in my life I have focused more on what others are doing and wished I could do that too.  When in reality, God has equipped us all to do something for His honour and glory.  My focus should not be on what I wish I could do, but am I doing what I could?  Am I giving financially what I can?  The tithe is the most basic level of obedience.  God allows me to earn $100 a week.  If I am doing what I could, I would be tithing $10.  Anything less, Malachi says is robbing God and in turn not doing what I could.

This particular truth could be applied to many areas of our Christian life.  How about our service at our local church?  Everyone should be involved in some area of service for the Lord.  Do what you could.  Remember, the key is to use what's in your hand not someone else's.  The point being that God has already equipped us with our own alabaster box.  We make the choice whether it is broken and given back to Him.
