Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 119:80, "Let my heart be sound in thy statutes; that I be not ashamed."
The word statutes is referring to the Word of God. There is so much swirling in our
world today that the anchor of the Bible is vital for the believer. A sound heart is a
heart that is complete and without blemish. If we are consistently walking in God's
Word, we will steer clear of the filth of this world. God's Word will empower us to
say no to temptation.
One of our goals as Christians ought to be to never bring shame to the name of Christ.
If we neglect His Word it will lead to lifestyle choices that are not pleasing to God and
will eventually bring shame to His name. Keep looking in the mirror of God's Word and
be willing to make adjustments when necessary.
