Our Scripture reading today is Romans 5:12, "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:"
It may sound a bit morbid to start off the day by saying that we have a death sentence over our head.  This particular sentence is spiritual in nature.  In fact, we came into this world with the death sentence already on our account.  Who or what is to blame for this not so encouraging news?  Our verse for today tells us that SIN is what brought this sentence into our lives.  We are sinners by nature and by choice.
Just as we are made sinners by Adam's sin, we can be made righteous through the finished work of the God man, Jesus Christ.  Romans 5:15, "But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. "  God has given all mankind a free will with a choice to make: continue in the way of Adam or turn to the way of Jesus Christ.  One leads to eternal death and one leads to eternal life.  Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Praise God for His love for sinners like you and me!
