Our Scripture reading today is Luke 6:35-36, "But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful."
The challenge today is to be kind and merciful whether or not we feel someone is deserving of it.  Our pattern of how much kindness and mercy we should follow is how much has God given to us.  It might seem like certain individuals have used up all the kindness and mercy they deserve.  We need not keep track of how much kindness and mercy we have given.  There is no way we can ever exceed the kindness and mercy that God has shown to us.  How much kindness do we want?  How much mercy do we want?
Take the challenge today and be on the lookout for ways to show kindness and mercy.  Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to people who are in great need.  I have no doubt there are many people who need encouragement.  It might be someone in your own home or it might be a complete stranger.  Matthew 5:7, "Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy."
