Our Scripture reading today is Luke 6:27-29.
Verse 28, " Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you."
These verses are not what one would expect to hear regarding those who bring opposition into our lives.  At least, our flesh would not expect to har it or for sure, not practice it.  We know from our recent Sunday night series that Jesus Christ not only spoke these words, but it is our responsibility to live these words.  I like what Mr. Barclay had to say about this passage.  "“We cannot love our enemies as we love our nearest and dearest. To do so would be unnatural, impossible, and even wrong. But we can see to it that, no matter what a man does to us, even if he insults, ill-treats and injures us, we will seek nothing but his highest good.”
The second half of verse 28 challenges us to pray for our enemies.  Those who are despitefully using us need to be on our prayer list.  This means if there are people who are falsely accusing us, we should take their name to the Lord in prayer.  We can pray for the truth to be revealed as well as their heart to be softened.  It is also very important to pray for God's will to be accomplished in whatever He is allowing to take place.  His plan in our lives is always best for us.
