Our Scripture reading today is Genesis 13:10-13.
Verse 13, "But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly."
Someone once said our direction determines our destination.  It is possible that Lot is the first person to have proven this statement.  Unfortunately, it was not in a positive way.  Verse 12 of our text says that Lot pointed his tent towards Sodom, an exceedingly wicked city.  This decision by Lot was an indicator of what was in his heart already.  Over time it would be revealed even more as Lot and family would eventually move into Sodom and be a leader in the city.
As I'm sure you know, our decisions do not simply affect us.  Our decision have a trickle down affect to our family and others whom we influence.  Lot's family would end up in shambles.  His son in laws end up staying in Sodom and are destroyed with the city.  His wife turns into a pillar of salt because she loved Sodom.  His daughters got him drunk on two consecutive nights and had children by their own father.  I can guarantee you, Lot did not see all of that the morning he got up and pointed his tent towards Sodom.
What direction are you heading today?  Are the decisions you are making bringing you closer to the world?  It would be wise for you to consider the example of Lot.  I am sure he would tell us that direction does determine destination.
