Our Scripture reading today is Numbers 32:9, "For when they went up into the valley of Eschol, and saw the land, they discouraged the heart of the children of Israel, that they should not go into the land which the LORD had given."

The lack of faith of the 10 men who came back from searching the land of Canaan is brought up once again in this chapter.  Moses is reminding them of the mistake that was made some 38 years prior.  The LORD had already promised them the land.  A lack of faith caused everyone 20 years old and upward to miss this promise.  Notice the phrase, "discouraged the heart."  These ten men cause the heart of the people to fear instead of acting by faith and claiming what God had already said was theirs.

I definitely do not want on my resume that I was used of the devil to discourage other believers to walk deeper and further with the Lord.  By God's grace, we should all ask God to guard us from ever discouraging the heart of another child of God.  May we be used to edify and encourage another brother or sister in Christ to advance for the glory of God!
