Our Scripture reading today is Luke 15:13-14.
Verse 14, "And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want."
While the younger son was wasting his father's inheritance, he had no idea what was coming in just a few days.  His asking for the inheritance early was bad enough and now it is all spent with nothing to show for it.  His situation takes an even greater turn for the worse when a mighty famine arrives.  Now, this young man who bought everything his flesh wanted is in great want with no money to even buy food to eat.  He not only wasted his wealth, he wasted his life.
Our life is being spent one day at a time and every day is a gift.  Today is day number 18,260 for me.  More than likely, I have fewer days ahead of me than behind me.  It is impossible for me to relive any of those days.  I can learn from my past decisions as well as the past decisions of others.  Please be challenged and encouraged to live every day in the will of God.
Ephesians 5:16, "Redeeming the time, because the days are evil."
James 4:14, "Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away."
May God be glorified with how we use this day!
