Our Scripture reading today is Hebrews 11:1-2.
Verse 1, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
Our faith is what gives us a sense of the unseen or spiritual world. It is not a blind leap. Faith has its reasons that must be understood spiritually. “Faith extends beyond what we learn from our senses, and the author is saying that it has its reasons. Its tests are not those of the senses, which yield uncertainty.” (Morris)
We are definitely hoping and longing for a better place than this old, sinful world. God's Word strengthens and deepens our faith. Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." It enables us to see in such a way spiritually that we have hope that the presence of God in Heaven is our eternal home. Praise the Lord!
