Our Scripture reading today is 1 John 5:4-5.
Verse 4, "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."
Faith is the key to salvation as well as our every day Christian living. It is impossible to be saved without faith and it is impossible to please God without faith. Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace are ye saved through faith..." Hebrews 11:6, 'But without faith it is impossible to please God..."
Our faith is strengthened as we spend time in the Word of God. Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." If we have little time for the Bible, we will have little faith. Little faith will have a difficult time overcoming the world and the wiles of the devil. The daily faith we need is one we receive as we abide in the Vine. We cannot accomplish anything apart from the Lord Jesus Christ.
