Faith When He Returns

Our Scripture reading today is Luke 18:8, "I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?"

Are you ready for the coming of the Lord?  Is your family ready for the coming of the Lord?  The one thing that makes anyone ready is faith.  Faith in the fact that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.  Faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross.  Faith in the empty tomb.  Hebrews 11:1, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  My faith in Jesus Christ makes me ready for His imminent return.  

I am reminded this morning of a song in our hymnbook - My Faith Has Found a Resting Place by E. E. Hewitt.

1 My faith has found a resting place,
from guilt my soul is freed;
I trust the ever-living One,
his wounds for me shall plead.

Refrain:
I need no other argument,
I need no other plea,
it is enough that Jesus died,
and that he died for me.

2 Enough for me that Jesus saves,
this ends my fear and doubt;
a sinful soul, I come to him,
he’ll never cast me out. [Refrain]
