Our Scripture reading today is Luke 14:28-30.
Verse 30, "Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish."
There is something to be said about finishing.  We might say there is a sense of accomplishment when a list of tasks are finished.  For the majority of God's children, they do not enter His presence the same day they turn to Him for salvation.  He saved us not to immediately call us Home, but to live our lives for His glory.  We all have a course to finish.
While I am thankful to be headed to Heaven when I die, it is my desire to finish faithful.  It isn't necessarily that we finish in 1st place, but that we finish our course faithfully living for the Lord.  Acts 20:24, "But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify of the gospel of the grace of God."  Jesus Christ finished the course of His earthly life in order that we might have eternal life as well as finish our course pointing people to Him.
