Our Scripture reading today is Proverbs 25:11, "A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver."
A "fitly" word is the proper word given at the right time.  It is a powerfully healing and encouraging word.  It is a word that ministers to someone deep into their soul.  The prophet Isaiah wrote in chapter 50 and verse 4, "The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned."
There is great power in our words.  We need the wisdom of the Lord to use words to build up and not tear down.  The timing of when we use those words is equally important.  Wisdom is needed to know when to speak and when to refrain from speaking.  We will speak in a fitly way when our heart is filled with the desire to please God.  He constantly speaks to us in a fitly way.  God knows exactly when we need a certain verse to correct or encourage us.  Ask Him to help you speak today and every day in a fitly way.
