Our Scripture reading today is Isaiah 52:11-13.

Verse 11, "Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the LORD."

The challenge is made in the verse for the people of God in Isaiah's day to separate from Babylon in a literal and spiritual way.  It does have an application for us today.  The command is to live in purity.

As followers of Jesus Christ, we are the vessels of the LORD.  1 Corinthians 6:19, "What know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"  We were indwelt with God's Spirit the very moment we by faith received God's gift of salvation.  While Babylon is no where near us in a literal way, there is plenty of Babylon around us.  The system of the world is under the control of our enemy.  He seeks to put as much unclean into our lives as he possibly can and he does not need our help.

Our daily goal is to be ready for the Master's use.  2 Timothy 2:21, "If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work."
