Our Scripture reading today is Luke 15:21-22.
Verse 22, "But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:"
The forgiveness of the father is on full display when he not only forgave his son, but accepted him back into the family. It is seen in the presentation of the gifts that were given to the repentant son. At the core of our love for others, there will be giving. "For God so loved the world that he gave..." John 3:16a
There is a level of love shown here that is impossible to replicate apart from relying on the Spirit of God. One of the many reasons we need to filled with the Spirit is to love others as God loves them. God's love can be seen in and through us if we die to self and yield to the Spirit. If we are looking through His eyes, we will see many people who are in need of His love.
