Our Scripture reading today is Luke 11:2-4.

Verse 4, "And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil."

These verses provide us with a model to follow when we pray.  The Lord Jesus did not pray this prayer, but He was teaching His disciples how to pray by using this prayer.  They asked for help, and He was answering their request.  I would like to emphasize once again that it is most important that we pray.  If reading and studying about prayer does not lead to praying, we have simply stored up information.

Part of our prayer life is asking to be forgiven of sin.  After we accept Jesus Christ as Saviour, our sin does not cause us to lose our salvation, but it does cause us to lose fellowship with God.  If we are walking in the ways of the world or even our flesh, we cannot have the prayer life God intended for us to have.  Psalm 66:18, "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me."  Forgiveness is readily available through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.  1 John 1:7, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin."

It is a daily part of our prayer life...asking for forgiveness of sin.  Praise the Lord, He faithfully forgives!
