Our Scripture reading today is 1 Timothy 1:5-7.

Verse 5, "Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:"

The more time we spend in God's Word, there will be produced in us charity, a good conscience and faith unfeigned.  These qualities are not possible in and of ourselves. God's Word will produce a greater love for God and who He loves.  Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us."  God loves sinners and so should we.  My love for God will result in a love for sinners.

God's Word will also produce in me a way of thinking that while I am not worthy of it, I am no longer condemned to death.  Romans 8:1, "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."  The salvation I have in Jesus Christ makes my conscience clear before God.  There is true freedom through His victorious resurrection.

The final fruit of time in God's Word will be a genuine faith.  This faith will produce fruit for the glory of God.  Galatians 5:6, "For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love."  Fruitless and weak faith are indicators of little time in the Scriptures.  God's Spirit will help us to translate time in God's Word to fruitful and strong faith.
