Our Scripture reading today is Proverbs 10:4, "He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich."
A slack hand is a deceitful and idle hand.  It is describing someone who does not do his or her work with enthusiasm.  Eventually this individual is not doing any work and the result is a lack of results and in this case, poverty.  We have a choice to make when it comes to how we labour for the Lord and even in our secular work.  Whichever way we choose, there will be a reward.  It will either be poverty or riches.  These terms are not to be limited to finances or money.  We can be rich in more than just possessions and we can be poor in more than money.
A New Testament verse of Scripture that comes to mind is Colossians 3:23, "And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;"  God is always worthy of our best!
