Our Scripture reading today is 1 Corinthians 2:9-12.
Verse 9, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."
For the most part, we can all relate to either planning a surprise for someone or receiving a surprise from someone.  It might be a birthday or anniversary party or even a special gift.  There was time and thought involved in the preparation leading up to the presentation.  The individual or individuals are people you love and who love you.
Whenever I read this verse, I usually think of Heaven and what is awaiting the family of God there.  Won't it be wonderful there?...having no burdens to bear!    This morning, my thoughts stayed with what our loving Heavenly Father is preparing for us prior to our entrance into Heaven.  Yes, we have an eternal home being prepared for us, but God is also preparing for us now.  James 1:17, "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of light, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning."
It could be that how God is preparing you is not how you wanted to be prepared.  Please be encouraged that the Potter knows the clay.  Jeremiah 18:4, "And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it."  God knows each one of far better than we know ourselves.  His preparing is for our good and His glory!  Trust HIM.
