Our Scripture reading today is Luke 2:1-5.
Verse 3, "And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city."
It had been prophesied by Micah in chapter 5 and verse 2 where the Messiah would be born.  "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall come forth unto me that is to be ruler of Israel; whose going forth have been from old, from everlasting.  Joseph led his family to his own city, Bethlehem.  The name Bethlehem means the house of bread.
Everything God does is with and on purpose.  Each and every piece was already in place for the Bread of Life to be born in house of bread.  When I read these verses, I am reminded of the specific plan God has for all of His children.  We are not cut from the same cookie cutter.  We are fearfully and wonderfully made by God.  He is working all things together for our good and His glory.  His plan for you today may not be what you expected, but it will be the best.  I think we could talk to Joseph and Mary when it comes to things taking place that they least expected.  Trust His plan and praise His holy name!
