Our Scripture reading today is Luke 15:15-16.

Verse 16, "And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him."

I am not sure it could have been any worse for a Jewish man to be working with pigs and eating what they ate.  His decisions had brought him to the possibly the lowest point in his life.  If he had gained any "friends" during his time of wild living, they were no where to be found.  We can say without hesitation that he is of all men, most miserable.

Our enemy is really good at leading us away from the Father and to a life that seemingly looks much better.  Satan tries to deceive us into thinking about what life would be like if we were in control.  I would encourage a re-reading of Luke 15 from time to time.  God's Word has a way of reminding us what life will be like if we are in control.  As we heard on Sunday night, it is imperative that we allow the Lord to order or direct our steps.  His will is always best!
