Our Scripture reading today is Luke 6:24-26.
Verse 26, "Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets."
These three verses of Scripture continue to show us that Jesus Christ went against the religious current of His day.  We could say it was something like a salmon going upstream.  "In each of these paradoxical sayings, Jesus contrasted the current expectations of the kingdom with the spiritual reality of His Kingdom. Jesus told us that God does unexpected things. Jesus mocked the world’s values. He exalted what the world despises and rejected what the world admires. Jesus turned upside-down (rather, right-side-up) their perception of the Kingdom of God."
Our goal as followers of Jesus Christ cannot be to impress the world.  We are not called to go right along with the trends of our day.  We are called to be salt and light.  If we are faithful to the Lord Jesus, there will come some kind of push back from our circle.  It could be family, friends, employer, or co-workers.  Our goal is to be faithful men and women of the Word.  We are to live in it and let It live in us.  Our goal is to faithfully make Him known to the people whom we influence.  Not everyone will be happy with this.  We must continue to speak the truth in love.
