Our Scripture reading today is 1 John 4:7-8.
Verse 7, "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God."
I remember hearing over and over again that repetition is the key to learning. These were two of the verses that we read yesterday, but God wanted us to read them and meditate on them some more today.
This morning, the Holy Spirit drew my attention to the phrase, "...and every one that loveth is born of God." When we accept God's forgiveness through His Son, Jesus Christ, we are given the capacity to love in a greater way than we ever have before. We are born again! Everything is made new. Our love grows as we know more and more of God and His love. The word "know" in this verse carries with it the idea of experiencing God. The more I see God's love, the more I will love others. An indicator of true salvation in our lives is our love for God and His family. Who needs your love today?
