Our Scripture reading today is 1 Corinthians 15:58, "Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord."
It is hard to believe we have reached beyond the half way point of VBS week.  Time flies when you are having fun.  This verse is a welcomed reminder.  The Apostle Paul reminds the church at Corinth that their labour for the Lord will never be without purpose and results.  We can apply the same this week and any week we are labouring for the Lord.  Will we see the results of our labour immediately?  Sometimes yes, but most of the time, no.  Eternity with our Heavenly Father will reveal the full results of what God accomplished through our labour of love.  Hebrews 6:10, "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."
We should also be reminded that we cannot do any work or labour in and of ourselves.  The labour that "we" do isn't really us doing it.  Each one of us is simply yielding our lives to be channels of blessing coming from the Lord Jesus.  “You must not only work, but you must labour – put forth all your strength; and you must work and labour in the Lord – under his direction, and by his influence; for without him you can do nothing.” (Clarke).
