Our Scripture reading today is Proverbs 16:33, "The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof is of the LORD."
The idea of casting a lot would be somewhat similar to our rolling of the dice. In other words, we could compare to using chance to help us make a decision. The second half of the verse reminds us that God is in control of everything. Another way of looking at this verse is that we are committing all of our decisions to Him. He can be trusted. Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths." Psalm 37:5, "Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass."
If we can trust God with our eternal destiny (we can!), then we can trust Him for our daily needs and direction in life. He is faithful!
