Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 11:8-9.
“But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.”
The Lord Jesus was not who most of the Jews thought he was. Their great desire was political freedom. He was not a military leader to free them from the rule of the Romans. He did not come the first time to set up His earthly kingdom. Jesus Christ came to seek lost people. Jesus Christ came to be the sacrifice in the place of sinful mankind.
How do you see Jesus Christ today? Is He someone you live for and serve only when it’s convenient? Is He someone you call on only at the last minute and you are desperate for help? He paved the way to have a daily walk and relationship with God. It is your privilege to love Him with all your heart. You are able to love Him because He loved you first.
