Our Scripture reading today is Philippians 3:20-21.
Verse 20, "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:"
Many of us understand what it means to live in a country where we were not born.  At some point in your life, your family made the difficult decision to immigrate to another country.  Some reading this might even carry more than one earthly citizenship.  It is important that we remember the place we are living now is only temporary as well as whatever citizenships we hold.  As followers of Jesus Christ, we have a heavenly home being prepared for us.  Jesus said in John 14:2, "In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."
As we meditate on where we are headed eternally, it should motivate us to live now accordingly.  “Just as the Roman colonists never forgot that they belong to Rome, you must never forget that you are citizens of heaven; and your conduct must match your citizenship.” (Barclay)  We are only Canadians for a vapour, but we have our heavenly citizenship for all eternity.  While we are here, we should live in such a way that brings honour and glory to God.  It should be our goal to point as many people to Jesus Christ as we possibly can.
