Our Scripture reading today is Luke 2:21, "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb."
The closer parents get to having their baby there is typically more talk about what they will name the baby. A girl and boy name are all ready to go for birth day. I realize with modern technology it is possible to "know" if a boy or girl name are needed well before the baby is born. Joseph and Mary did not have such technology, but they did have something far better. They had direct revelation from an angel as to the name of their baby. This revelation came before Mary was even pregnant!
We are carrying a name with us each and every day. Yes, I carry my physical birth name of Benjamin. There is another name we chose to identify with the day we turned from our unbelief to belief on the Lord Jesus Christ for our salvation. It is the name, Christian. It is the name we chose for ourselves. It is the name millions of people have died because they chose this name. We have a responsibility to live our lives in such a way that brings honour and glory to the name of Jesus Christ!
