Our Scripture reading today is Luke 22:63-65.
Verse 63, "And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him."
Who exactly were these evil men holding that day? They were blinded to the fact that they were holding the Way, the Truth and the Life. I am sure these men had worries and fears. Right in their very hands they held the Prince of Peace. Like most, I am sure they had family concerns that they thought about every day. The greatest of men and women cannot escape the worries of this world.
I am becoming more and more thankful for the Word of God. It has always been food for my soul, but in recent days it has met me in the night hour. I am sure we can all remember times in our life when we were holding onto the Word of God. Did we really believe the promises were for us? It could be that today is the day we desperately need spiritual help. Go find your copy of the Word of God and pick it up. You are holding the inspired and infallible Word of God. You are holding God's revelation of Himself to mankind. You are holding God's basic instructions before leaving earth. Hold it close and thank God for His Word and then open it ask God's Spirit to open your eyes to behold all the wonders of the Word!!
