Today’s Scripture reading is John 17:3-5.
Verse 4 - "...I have finished the work..."
The Lord Jesus Christ was sent from Heaven to earth for a sole purpose. That purpose is given in Luke 19:10, "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost." His purpose was not to rule but to redeem. The price to redeem fallen man was very high. It would require a sinless sacrifice. Jesus Christ would be the ONLY qualified sacrifice. Hebrews 4:15, "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." The plan of redemption was finished on Calvary's cross! Praise the Lord!
Our salvation is the beginning of a new life in Jesus Christ. Every day is an opportunity for us to live for Him. We need to finish faithful for His glory!
