Our Scripture reading today is Luke 11:33-35.

Verse 33, "No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light."

A light is to be put out in the open in order that many people will benefit from its light.  If a lamp were kept in the closet, it would be of no use to us regardless of how bright a bulb was used.  The challenge given to us this morning is not an unfamiliar one.  Our light given to us by the Lord Jesus is to be on display and shining brightly.  We must not allow the world, the flesh or the devil to dim or hide our light.  The devil seems to be working overtime these days to cover and in some cases extinguish the light of some God's most faithful servants.

“Our Lord’s constant answer was, to go shining on. He was meant to be observed; even as a lamp is intended to be seen.” (Spurgeon)

It is time confess and forsake sin and be a shining light for the glory and praise of our God!

Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
