Our Scripture reading today is Colossians 3:1-4.
Verse 4, "When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."
Since reading this passage on Sunday night, I have been meditating on the first part of verse 4, "When Christ, who is our life..."  The Apostle Paul could make that statement because Jesus Christ gave His life for Paul to be saved.  The same can be said for every born again believer.  We have the opportunity to live in spiritual freedom as a result of Jesus sacrificial death on the cross and His glorious resurrection three days later.  Paul wrote something similar to the church in Philippi, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21)  The question I keep asking myself and I want you to ask yourself is, "Is Christ my life?"
The Apostle Paul made it clear that making Jesus Christ one's life was not just for the apostles or super Christians.  "When Christ, who is OUR life..."  For most of us the answer to the question is found in the way we live our daily lives.  Our actions will let people know what or who is our life.  For many, their job is their life.  There are others who make hobbies their life.  A job and hobbies in and of themselves are obviously not sinful.  They can, however, become our life.  If they keep us from giving any time during the week in serving the Lord, we are in danger of making them our life and not Him.
It breaks my heart every time someone tells me they are too busy to come to church or serve the Lord.  I hear it often.  It is time we take a look at our schedules and see who or what is our life.  As C.T Studd (missionary in China, India and Africa) wrote, "Only one life, ’twill soon be past, Only what's done for Christ will last."
