Our Scripture reading today is 2 Corinthians 12:9, "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

This is one of those verses that is very helpful to read when nothing is going
awry in one's life.  When the infirmities of life come our way, it can be challenging
to cling to the promise in this verse.  It is easy to question that God's grace is not
enough and that we would rather God remove the weakness and infirmity.  This
type of thinking is obviously temporal and not eternal.  I read recently that we
will know the grace of God is sufficient when we know we are not.  Trials and
troubles have a way of humbling us to a place of experiencing and knowing God
in a more intimate way.

The following quote by Mr. Spurgeon really resonated with me: "“Great tribulation brings out the great strength of God. If you never feel inward conflicts and sinking of soul, you do not know much of the upholding power of God; but if you go down, down, into the depths of soul-anguish till the deep threatens to shut her mouth upon you, and then the Lord rides upon a cherub and does fly, yea, rides upon the wings of the wind and delivers your soul, and catches you away to the third heaven of delight, then you perceive the majesty of divine grace. Oh, there must be the weakness of man, felt, recognized, and mourned over, or else the strength of the Son of God will never be perfected in us.”

The grace of God truly is sufficient!
