Our Scripture reading today is Joshua 24:15, "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

It is very important that we lead those with whom we have influence over to follow the Lord Jesus Christ.  By leading them, I am referring not only to what we tell them is right, but what we show them is right.  Our actions are a sermon in shoes.  Unfortunately, there are many people leading others today with a, "Do I say but not as I do mentality".  Many times this will lead to rebellion in the heart of the follower.

By the grace of God, we can lead our family and others by the statement Joshua made in our verse for today.  A stand must be made that we, the leaders, are going to put God first in our lives so those who follow us have an example worth following.  It might mean not having everything you wanted to have in this life, but it is always more fulfilling to put God first.
