Our Scripture reading today is Luke 6:37-38.
Verse 38, "Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again."
The saying might be old, but it is still and always will be true..."You cannot out give God."  It may not happen the same every time, but God will see to it that our giving will be blessed.  According to our text this morning, He will return more than we give.  We are the ones who activate the blessing of God.  By faith, we give and God is obligated to give in return.  Hebrews 6:10, "For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister."
This giving is not limited to material things.  It includes the giving of love, blessings, forgiveness and much more.  Knowing how much we need these, the more we should be motivated to give them first.  2 Corinthians 9:6, "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully."  We often want a bountiful harvest, but we are only planting sparingly.  It is time to change our sowing to bountiful!  God will bless!
