Our Scripture reading today is Luke 18:35-38.

Verse 38, "And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me."

The blind man may not have been able to see Jesus, but he could still hear and he had a voice.  He must have been listening very intently that day.  There was only One person Who could help him. If he had any chance of seeing, it would be by the miraculous ways of the Messiah, Jesus the Son of David.  This blind man knew he needed God's mercy and was not too proud to ask for it.

God's mercy is still available to anyone who calls out to Him.  It seems that so many people need to come completely to the end of themselves before they are willing to cry out for His mercy and forgiveness.  If they would but humble themselves, God will supply what is needed.  Humility always moves the hand of God.  The attitude of humility should continue in our Christian life as well.  1 Peter 5:8, "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:"
