Our Scripture reading today is Romans 5:8-10.

Verse 9, "Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him."

Our justification is only possibly because of the sinless sacrifice made by Jesus Christ.  Hebrews 9:22, "And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission."  The One Who knew no sin became sin in order that we sinners might be justified.  Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, took the place of the Old Testament sacrifices once and for all.  Leviticus 17:11, "For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."  He made the atonement for our souls.  He and He alone provided us with our justification.  When we say we are justified, it means we have been rendered or made righteous.  This process is necessary if we are to have a relationship with God.  Our "righteousness" isn't even close to gaining us access to God's presence.  Isaiah 64:6, "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

Bill Harvey wrote the following song:  "I'm justified I'm happy in Jesus today. The sins I've committed are all in the past. They'll never condemn me for he holds me fast.  I'm justified, I'm justified. I'm happy in Jesus today."

Praise God for the justification we have been provided through Jesus Christ!
