Our Scripture reading today is John 6:5, "When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?"
The need the people had became very evident to the Lord Jesus when He lifted up His eyes. They were hungry after listening to Him teach a good part of the day. His view of those around Him caused Him to want to do something about meeting their need.
There are countless people around us who have more than a need for physical food. Most of the people we pass by on a daily basis are lost and headed to a Christ-less eternity in Hell. This truth should motivate us to take advantage of every opportunity God gives us to point people to Jesus Christ. Lift up your eyes today and you will see someone who needs Jesus!
