Our Scripture reading today is Luke 10:25-28.
Verse 27, "And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself."
The Lord Jesus gives this certain lawyer the key to having a fulfilled life now. This life can only come from God by following what Jesus explained in this text. We are to love God with every fiber of our being. While this is quite impossible to do in our fleshly bodies, we are to strive to love Him more every day. He is to be before first place in our lives. Our love for Him is displayed by our obedience to His commands. John 15:14, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."
As we love God more, it will also be seen in our love for others. We are to love our neighbours as we love ourselves. We tend to make sure all of our needs are met and to look after ourselves and are concerned about our own interests. The Lord Jesus is challenging us to love those around us in this very same way. Starting at home and working our way out, we should love our neighbours as ourselves. Be on the lookout today for someone you can love and encourage.
